Elton John performed at Rush Limbaugh's wedding?

Did he just give Rush a way to defend himself from being called a gay-basher when he says they shouldn't be allowed to marry, adopt or exist? "I'm not homophobic! Elton John performed at my wedding!"

Yeah, I boggled at that, too, though I've also heard that Elton John habitually donates his fee for such things (which is anywhere from a million to two million) to his AIDS charity. So ... I dunno if Elton saw it as "taking the devil's money to do the lord's work" or what.

Yeah, there's a couple ways to look at it. One of my options is that Rush doesn't believe most of the bile he spouts, because if he really hated gay people SO MUCH why the fuck would he ask one of the most flaming guys out there to be at his wedding, which just adds to his "I am a huge fucking hypocrit" tag.

Or alternatively and more likely, his view is, "Gays are fine as long as they know their place and don't expect to have rights like us normal cheating God-fearing heterosexuals."

Yeah, I've considered the possibility that Rush thinks gays are fine as long as they stay entertainers, hairdressers, fashion designers, etc. Kinda like how women entering the work force was okay as long as they weren't directly competing with the menfolk.

Yeah. I can see him sorta going 'ha ha, you homophobic fuckers, here's a bunch of money that would ordinarily be going for shit out of Sky Mall magazine that's heading straight to heal some queers, how do you like that, shitbags?'

Probably without all the swearing.

Hey, swearing could still be involved. We're talking about the guy who reportedly scrawled, "Fuck off - this is my piano" on the underside of one of his baby grands.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if Limbaugh didn't know that's where it'd go ahead of time, which sort of adds fuel to the "doesn't actually believe the shit he says" argument.

That's right in the Glenn Beck field. They make money doing what they do, and they don't care who gets fucked over by it.

Pretty much - I conclude a long time ago that Glenn Beck was really just cashing in on saying crazy shit and stopped paying attention to the unmitigated and largely nonsensical bile that comes out of his mouth.

Going back to my happy Burn Notice place now.

Yeah. I saw it was like $1M that he was paid for it. I really don't know. Not the first time Sir Elton has done something a bit odd like that.

I didn't even digest the incongruity of Elton playing for Rush. I was still trying to cope with the idea that ANOTHER woman would marry that ass clown.

Believe it or not, some women enjoy money and will trade sex for it.
